PALOALTO PA-2050

  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to device from PC COM1 port
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Access the Maintenance Recovery Tool.

    Type maint when prompted to boot to maint partition and before the 5 second countdown ends:
    Autoboot to default partition in 5 seconds. Enter 'maint' to boot to maint partition. Entry: maint Booting to maint mode.
    Further output will bring you to the Maintenance Recovery Tool screen:

  3. Reset to factory defaults and reboot.

    Use the keyboard arrow keys to select Factory Reset and press Enter:
    Factory Reset WARNING: Performing a factory reset will remove all logs and configuration. Using Image: (X) panos-6.0.6 < Factory Reset > < Advanced > Q=Quit, Up/Down=Navigate, ENTER=Select, ESC=Back
    Select Reboot on the "Factory Reset Status" screen after the progress bar reaches 100%:
    Factory Reset Status Percent Complete 100 % Working.. Factory Reset Status: Success < Back > < Reboot > Q=Quit, Up/Down=Navigate, ENTER=Select, ESC=Back
  4. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  5. End the session.

    Turn off/unplug the device and close PuTTy.
