Huawei Quidway S3328TP-EI

  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to console port of device from PC COM1 port
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Access the BootROM menu.

    Press the Ctrl B keys when prompted and before the countdown ends:
    BIOS LOADING ... Copyright (c) 2008-2011 HUAWEI TECH CO., LTD. (Ver341, Jun 17 2011, 10:24:31) Press Ctrl+B to enter BootROM menu ... 1
    Type Admin@huawei.com at the password:  prompt:

  3. Erase authentication credentials and boot.

    Type 5 for the Enter filesystem submenu option:
    BOOTROM MENU 1. Boot with default mode 2. Enter serial submenu 3. Enter startup submenu 4. Enter ethernet submenu 5. Enter filesystem submenu 6. Modify BOOTROM password 7. Reboot Enter your choice(1-7): 5
    Type 3 to Delete file from Flash then type the full filename of the .zip configuration file and y to confirm, then 6 to return to main menu:

  4. Erase configuration/any other data.

    Type the reset saved-configuration command and type y to confirm:

    Type the dir command to show the directory of files/folders then use the del command with pattern matching to delete all non-OS-image data files:

  5. Check for license files and reboot.

    Type the display startup command to check for any license files:

  6. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  7. End the session.

    Close PuTTy.
