HP C7000 BLADE SYSTEM Enclosure

  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to console port of device from PC COM1 port
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Reset password and log in with the given credentials.

    Using paperclip wire press and hold the recessed hardware reset button for 5+ seconds, then press L for Lost Password Recovery:

    Type Administrator for the login and the password string you noted in the previous step for the password:

  3. Erase configuration and restart device.

    Type the clear vcmode command and confirm by typing yes in full:
    nsstlicechas02-oa1> clear vcmode Entering anything other than 'YES' will result in the command not executing. Servers should be powered off and/or not configured by Virtual Connect prior to removing the enclosure from Virtual Connect Mode. Are you sure you want to remove the enclosure from Virtual Connect Mode? yes Virtual Connect Mode has been cleared.
    Type the set factory command and confirm by typing yes in full:
    nsstlicechas02-oa1> set factory Entering anything other than 'YES' will result in the command not executing. All existing settings will be lost when this operation is run and the Onboard Administrator will restart. *** iLOs will be reset in EBIPA-enabled bays. *** VLAN settings reset to being disabled and all devices grouped in VLAN ID 1 NOTE: This operation may take up to 7 minutes to complete.     Note: if the attempt fails with the message Not a valid request while running in standby mode. type the force takeover command and confirm with yes. You can then repeat the above step.

Entering anything other than 'YES' will result in the command not executing. Are you sure you want to switch the roles of the Onboard Administrators? yes Request successful. Takeover is in progress.
    Note: if the attempt fails with the message An error occurred while communicating with the other Onboard Administrator. you can toggle FIPS Mode on and back off which has the same effect of restoring factory defaults:

    The default password is now ChangeMe123! after restoring to factory default settings.
  4. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  5. End the session.

    Close PuTTy.
