NOTE: This guide is only useful if the default system password has not been changed.
  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to console port of device from PC COM1 port using an RS PRO DB9-pin male to D-Sub 25-pin male adapter.
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Access the MP MAIN MENU

    When prompted type Admin for both login and password:

  3. Erase configuration and reboot.

    At the MP>  prompt type the cm command:
    MP MAIN MENU: CO: Console VFP: Virtual Front Panel CM: Command Menu CL: Console Log SL: Show Event Logs CSP: Connect to Service Processor SE: Enter OS Session HE: Main Help Menu X: Exit Connection [nfllegacy-c] MP> cm (Use Ctrl-B to return to MP main menu.)
    At the MP:CM>  prompt type the DC -all default command and confirm with y:
    [nfllegacy-c] MP:CM> DC -all default DC -all default This command will restore all MP Configurations to their default values. To restore specific configurations to their defaults use the following commands: Remote Console Serial Port Modem configuration: CA -remote DEFAULT MP IP configuration : LC -all DEFAULT Remote Access Configuration : SA -all DEFAULT Command Interface configuration : IT -all DEFAULT MP Security configuration : SO -opt DEFAULT MP Session configuration : IT -all DEFAULT MP User configuration : UC -all DEFAULT MP LDAP directory configuration : LDAP -all DEFAULT SNMP Configuration : SNMP -all DEFAULT Restore All MP configuration default values? (Y/[N]): y y -> All MP configuration will be reset to its default values. -> Users may be disconnected in this process Command execution may take 25 seconds. -> MP IP configuration -> Remote Console Serial Port Modem configuration -> Paging configuration -> Remote Access -> MP Security configuration
    Repeat Step 2 to log back in.
    At the MP>  prompt type the co command:

    At the Main Menu: Enter command or menu >  prompt type the service menu command:

    At the Service Menu: Enter command >  prompt type the clearpim command:
    Service Menu: Enter command > clearpim Please wait a few seconds to clear the PIM...
    Type the PDT clear command and confirm with y:
    Service Menu: Enter command > PDT clear Execution of this command will clear the Page Deallocation Table and then hard boot the system (memory will be reconfigured on boot) Continue? (Y/N) > y If DIMM replacement is necessary, power down the system now: Use ^B MP:CM> PC -OFF -NC, then pull power cord and replace DIMM. Otherwise, the system will automatically reboot in 30 seconds.
  4. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  5. End the session.

    Close PuTTy.
