Cisco ACE 4710 SERIES ACE-4710-K9

  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to console port of device from PC COM1 port
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Reset password and log in with default credentials.

    Press the Esc key when you see the line "Starting services..." and before the countdown ends:

    Type y when prompted to "Reset Admin password":
    Reset Admin password [y/n] (default: n): y Resetting admin password to factory default... Installing MySQL groupadd: group nobody exists useradd: user nobody exists MySQL Installed Installing JRE JRE Installed Certificate & key are up to date . Starting sysmgr processes.. Please wait...Done!!!
    Type admin for both login and password:
    lbvhpdr001 login: admin Password: admin Admin user is allowed to login only from console until the default password is changed. Admin configuration parsing is in progress. Skipping the password setup.
    Further output will bring you to the lbvhpdr001/Admin#  prompt.
  3. Check for licenses, erase configuration and reboot.

    Type the show license command:

    Type the crypto delete all command and confirm with y:
    lbvhpdr001/Admin# crypto delete all This operation will delete all crypto files for this context from the disk, but will not interrupt existing SSL services. If new SSL files are not applied SSL services will be disabled upon next vip inservice or device reload. Do you wish to proceed? (y/n) [n] y
    Type reload then no when prompted to save configurations, and finally confirm reload with yes:
    lbvhpdr001/Admin# reload This command will reboot the system Save configurations for all the contexts. Save? [yes/no]: [yes] no Validating system image... Perform system reload. [yes/no]: [yes] yes lbvhpdr001/Admin# Unmounting ext3 filesystems... Unmounting Other filesystems... Unmounting done... Restarting system.
  4. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  5. End the session.

    Close PuTTy.
