  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to console port of device from PC COM1 port
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Erase configuration.

    Press Enter 3 times when prompted:
    Booting Version: SGOS 6.4.1.1, Release id: 95523 Press ENTER three times to activate the console Executing image: Version: SGOS 6.4.1.1, Release id: 95523 Interface 0:0: MAC address 00:E0:81:44:F3:CA, configured for full duplex, 1 gigabit/sec Welcome to the SG Appliance Serial Console
    Type 1 for the commandline:
    --------------------MENU-------------------- 1) Command Line Interface 2) Setup Console -------------------------------------------- Enter option: 1 Management Console started Welcome to the SG Appliance command line interface Type "exit" at the main prompt to quit
    Type enable for privileged access, then type the password shown on the LCD panel display:
    AUNNIBLPRX01>enable Enable Password: (copy from LCD display)
    Type the restore-defaults factory-defaults command and y to confirm:
    AUNNIBLPRX01#restore-defaults factory-defaults WARNING: System re-initialization will result in loss of access log, event log and configuration information. The SG Appliance will also be forced to restart. After the restart, further configuration will have to be done while physically situated at the SG Appliance. Proceed with extreme caution. Continue with system re-initialization? (y/n)[n]: y Re-initializing system, please wait... Clearing security information.... Waiting for disk activity to cease. In MP mode; two processors active Starting initialization of machine. This may take a while, please be patient. System initialized.
  3. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  4. End the session.

    Close PuTTy.
