Allied Telesis AT-8000GS/48

  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in serial cable to console port of device from PC COM1 port
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, leave baud rate (Speed) and other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Switch Unit to Standalone working mode.

    Press Esc when prompted and before the countdown ends:

    Type 6 at the Startup Menu to access the Stack menu:
    Startup Menu [1] Download Software [2] Erase Flash File [3] Password Recovery Procedure [4] Enter Diagnostic Mode [5] Set Terminal Baud-Rate [6] Stack menu [7] Back Enter your choice or press 'ESC' to exit:
    Type 3 at the Stack Menu, then type 1 for standalone working mode, and press Enter:
    Stack menu [1] Show unit stack id [2] Set unit stack id [3] Set unit working mode [4] Back Enter your choice or press 'ESC' to exit: Enter unit working mode [1 - standalone, 2 - stacking]: 1 Unit working mode changed to standalone. ==== Press Enter To Continue ====
    Keep pressing Esc exiting menus to continue the boot process.
  3. Log in with default credentials and erase configuration.

    Type manager for the User Name and friend for the password when prompted to get to the console#  prompt:
    Exit from boot menu. Continue with flow. Preparing to decompress... 100% Decompressing SW from image-1 100% OK Running from RAM... About to erase CDB.     Type del startup-config and confirm with y:

  4. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  5. End the session.

    Close PuTTy.
